The best lesbian romance you'll read this year.
Good to know
Why I love it
Author, We Are Never Meeting in Real Life
As a woman who used to have a boyfriend but now has a wife I have to say that there aren’t a lot of romantic comedies out there aiming for my very specific demographic. So I was pleasantly surprised to encounter this breezy story about a woman who discovers she has a few things to learn about love.
Katie, a blonde corporate lawyer with an affinity for chic Dior footwear, has just been dumped by her vegan boyfriend. She’s spending her days sulking over barbecue and Wild Turkey in her wrecked Manhattan apartment (she’s a transplant from the South). Cassidy, her intimidating opposing counsel on a high-stakes closing, couldn’t be more different. She’s fond of $300 haircuts, well-tailored men’s suits, and the family she’s made at a divey lesbian bar called “Cheers,” where she spends most nights trolling for new romantic conquests. They meet, and an adorably awkward game of will-they-or-won’t-they cat and mouse ensues.
This book is like popcorn! It’s the kind of bubbly romcom you can’t stop reading despite getting sunburned on your lawn chair because you haven’t realized how much time has gone by. When Katie Met Cassidy is like Kissing Jessica Stein updated for the age of Instagram and Taylor Swift, a flirty and fun story of two girls trying to figure out where they fit in the world, and if they fit together. It’s the sweetest, sunniest beach read. Don’t forget your sunscreen.
Katie Daniels, a 28-year-old Kentucky transplant with a strong set of traditional values, has just been dumped by her fiancé when she finds herself seated across a negotiating table from native New Yorker Cassidy Price, a sexy, self-assured woman wearing a man’s suit. At first neither of them knows what to make of the other, but soon their undeniable connection will bring into question everything each of them thought they knew about sex and love.
When Katie Met Cassidy is a romantic comedy about gender and sexuality, and the importance of figuring out who we are in order to go after what we truly want. It’s also a portrait of a high-drama subculture where barrooms may as well be bedrooms, and loyal friends fill in the spaces absent families leave behind. Katie’s glimpse into this wild yet fiercely tight-knit community begins to alter not only how she sees the larger world, but also where exactly she fits in.

I read this in one sitting. I didn’t realize how much I needed a feel-good romance. I love Katie and Cassidy and would like very much to be their best friend. This is the best LGBT romance I’ve read!
Loved the raw emotion in both main characters. New love can be scary, especially in a situation like this where you are afraid to be yourself or hurt others. I’m glad she gave in and they fell in lovs
New York , NY
Yeah, it cheesy and has an happy-ending, but it’s a good reminder that not all LGBTQ+ lit has to be horribly depressing...does an alright of avoiding stereotypes and representing the NYC gay scene too
It only took me 2 days to finish it & it took me this long because of work and other tings. When it was over I was sad there wasn’t more. Loooooved it! It expressed so much truth. Than you Ms. Perri!
Let’s just say... sexual awakening, or rather gender identity awakening. Until I read this book, I could not put my finger on why I felt different from my femme friends. Thanks to Cassidy, I now know.

Very good book! As a woman who has struggled with describing my feelings/emotions this laid it out perfectly. The characters were easy to follow. If you’re looking for a quick, fun read- this is it!

I loved this! It was so refreshing to read a book from a different (often marginalized) perspective. I thought it was fun, and sexy, and funny, sad at times. I really enjoyed the characters & setting
This book isn't necessarily well written, but I'm a gay woman, and I've never seen myself in a romance novel before. Because of that, I loved it. Super quick and easy to read. I read it in one sitting
Sweet story, funny characters, only wish it was a bit longer to flesh it out. One of the few lesbian romances I've read that wasn't hypersexualized, and instead focused on the relationship and people.
First book that I’ve picked up in years due to depression and other things. And I was finished in two days. Incredible book that really pulls you in. Such amazing details makes you feel everything

This book was totally not what I expected. It was WAY better. I couldnt put it down. I literally had to force myself at 12am in the morning to put it down and sleep. Not your typical lesbian romance.

This book is a very quick, light read that thankfully focuses on the character development and the relationship rather than the sex. I finished it in two days and was very satisfied with the ending.

This book made me so happy, the characters were so cute together. It was the perfect book about trying to find yourself. The book itself was very plainly written and seemed to go by too quick though.
This is a charming book! Both female main characters are very lovely and strong-minded in their own ways. This isn't a very deep book- I finished it in about two hours- but a great read nonetheless.

LOVED this book so much! I was able to get through this book within a day and it was extremely hard to put down when I had to! The story of these women and how they were brought together is amazing.
I, as a gay woman, have never read -or even heard of- a woman/woman romance. This book had some quirks, but overall I am glad this book was written! A good take on w/w romance in the corp. NYC world

When Katie Met Cassidy is a delightful quick read. It offers honest portrayal of gender fluidity and the nature of sexuality as a spectrum, all while remaining light and funny. A perfect beach read!
