Better than bourbon and biscuits, this sizzling story stars southern belles on the hunt in more ways than one.

Why I love it
Actress, Gossip Girl, Single Parents
When The Hunting Wives begins, its narrator Sophie has a life that seems enviable: a peaceful, serene home with her doting, supportive husband and their adorable toddler Jack. She’s curated a slower-paced life some mothers could only dream of: solo nature jogs, time to transform her well-tended garden into homemade meals, and a passion project she can complete on her own timetable. But, also like many mothers, Sophie spends her days battling boredom and questioning the monotony of marriage and child-rearing. She has an unconscious, long-simmering attraction to the chaos which surrounded her childhood.
Enter Margot, an elegant, fiery, and downright sexy high-society darling. Sophie develops a distant attraction and eventually wills her way into Margot’s orbit, and is quickly invited as the fifth member of the super-secret clique of women who drink, shoot skeet with shotguns, and reveal their proclivity for not-so-innocent extramarital adventures. As Sophie falls further under the hunting wives’ influence, she finds herself tangled up in a web of lies and deceit, all while harboring a secret of her own: her burgeoning attraction to and unhealthy obsession with Margot. When a young woman’s dead body is found on Margot’s property, Sophie’s willingness to protect Margot at all costs threatens to unravel all that Sophie holds dear.
This book is a wild, exciting ride, and it’s refreshing to see a heroine struggle to reconcile what’s expected of her with what she actually wants. I followed Sophie into her mistakes, simultaneously ignoring the warning signs and willing her in vain to stop now and turn around before it’s too late. This story is about a mysterious murder, but it’s also about the mystery of sexuality, security, and the lengths we go to preserve and defend the ones we love. Ultimately, nothing is tied up in a perfect, pretty bow, and I love The Hunting Wives, and its flawed heroine, all the more for it.
Sophie O’Neill left behind an envy-inspiring career and the stressful, competitive life of big-city Chicago to settle down with her husband and young son in a small Texas town. It seems like the perfect life with a beautiful home in an idyllic rural community. But Sophie soon realizes that life is now too quiet, and she’s feeling bored and restless.
Then she meets Margot Banks, an alluring socialite who is part of an elite clique secretly known as the Hunting Wives. Sophie finds herself completely drawn to Margot and swept into her mysterious world of late-night target practice and dangerous partying. As Sophie’s curiosity gives way to full-blown obsession, she slips farther away from the safety of her family and deeper into this nest of vipers.
When the body of a teenage girl is discovered in the woods where the Hunting Wives meet, Sophie finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation and her life spiraling out of control.

???? the ending! I don’t know what made me think I wasn’t going to be into this book but I was totally wrong. It was a “just one more chapter” and then 8 chapters later you’re still reading... so good!
May Cobb wrote a WINNER in “The Hunting Wives”! I wanted to shake Sophie throughout the entire book…she was clueless to what was truly going on!!However, I didn’t see the twist coming that Cobb threw!

4.5⭐️ Sign me up for all of the “salacious” reads! This one got downright dirty, which I love, along with the mystery/thriller aspect. This book was a page turner, rare for me lately. Glad I bought it

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The characters pull you in and make you crave answers. I also love the drama, who doesn’t like to live in someone else’s drama without dealing with the fallout
This book had as many twists & turns as the roads the ladies took to the lake. I couldn’t put this one down! Not your typical thriller in all the best ways. Sexy and dramatic - who doesn’t love that?!
Very scandalous and very addicting. I read this is one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. This is probably a taste thing, if you don’t love drama/reality tv then you might not like this as much.

By far, my absolute FAVORITE book!!Spellbinding, mesmerizing, hold your breath, make your heart pound fabulousness! There’s drama, suspense, gossip and down-right-dirty backstabbing! An absolute MUST!

Most of this book I was really mad at Sophie because her decisions were really stupid and I didn’t want to believe her character was so naive. But the twist at the end of the book had me so surprised.
An addicting read! All the characters are unlikeable which makes for an interesting read. Who’s really telling the truth? This is one you will not be able to put down! Everything a good thriller needs
This was really good, I like the plot twist it had in the end because I was not expecting that… I am just sad for the main character that could’ve avoided this to begin with.. amazing novel though
Hoooo boy! This was an absolutely fun read! It’s a great “sit on your porch with a tall beverage” book. Nobody was like able in this book - lol! I’m really thrilled that I picked this book!
Whew this book was intense! Scandal, salacious relationships, murder. Everything I love about a good book. I was sucked in to The WhoDunnit and didn’t see the murderer coming. However, many triggers!
Now this book was very entertaining! I loved the different personalities of each character. It was hard to put down for sure! It makes me think twice of making néw friends especially one like Margot.
This book felt like reading a guilty pleasure. Steamy and surprising, I loved the pace it was written. As soon as it seemed like things were slowing down, Cobb threw another twist in! It’s definitely
Rich-white-female-thrillers bore me; advantaged women dont breed high stakes or sympathy. NOT THIS TIME! These wives are a wolfpack! Sophie’s story is a maddening, racy, mind-effer! 5 sizzling stars!
I really liked this one, especially because it's in Texas!! I went back and forth on who the killer was, but guessed it a chapter or 2 before it was revealed. I felt so bad for Sophie the whole time!!
This was a dark, slick thriller that flew by at a breakneck pace. It explored the dynamic between female friends, marriages, parenting, and how the choices we make affect those around us so profoundly
This book was great! Fairly easy to get into and then once half way through i couldn’t put it down. You think you know who did what, and it completely surprises you. A must read for thriller lovers!
