Gillian's debut novel—her darkest, most twisted, and freakiest of them all. Read it before it becomes an HBO miniseries.

Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: she must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful thirteen-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims—a bit too strongly. Dogged by her own demons, she must unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past if she wants to get the story—and survive this homecoming.

I don’t know if “loved” is the right adjective. This book made me extremely uncomfortable, but I couldn’t put it down. It dives into some dark stuff without feeling gratuitous (def needs a TW though)

Another twisted, psychological thriller by Gillian Flynn…such a fantastic author! Just when you think you have it all figured out…you realize you don’t. Keeps you guessing until the very end. So good!

This book will freak you the fuck out and make your skin crawl. The ending is half predictable, half “holy shit” but the writing draws you in. One of the few authors who knows how to write 1st person.

Sharp Objects was a thrill of a ride to read, just when I thought I knew the direction the story was headed, I was hit with a major surprise ending. I couldn’t put it down and I’ve read it twice now!

Very twisted! I ended up figuring out the murderer about halfway through, but the final twist at the end surprised me. Couldn’t put this book down - read it in two days. Love Flynn’s writing style.
