The highest praise for a thriller is unfortunately the thing you’re mostly likely to hear about any average thriller. You won’t see the twist coming, proclaims the marketing copy, even though a voracious reader of the genre will, nine times out of ten, do just that. But here I am saying it: Goodnight Beautiful has so many unusual turns that I think you really will be taken by surprise.
Picture a little town in upstate New York, where Manhattan-based professionals in search of a slower pace might comfortably relocate. That’s just what Sam Statler, a handsome therapist, and his wife Annie have done. Annie fills her hours alone, adjusting to their new life, while Sam spends his days receiving clients in need of care. Despite a few secrets Annie and Sam are keeping from each other—and us readers—life proceeds normally until one day when Sam goes missing.
This isn’t just a search for a missing person—this is a madcap story that gave me the feeling of wandering through an empty house, afraid to turn a corner for fear of what’s lurking down the hall. Aimee Molloy entered the domestic suspense scene a few years ago with a splash, and her second novel does not disappoint. Good luck guessing the ending!
Newlyweds Sam Statler and Annie Potter are head over heels, and excited to say good-bye to New York and start a life together in Sam's sleepy hometown in upstate New York. Or, it turns out, a life where Annie spends most of her time alone while Sam, her therapist husband, works long hours in his downstairs office, tending to the egos of his (mostly female) clientele.
Little does Sam know that through a vent in his ceiling, every word of his sessions can be heard from the room upstairs. The pharmacist's wife, contemplating a divorce. The well-known painter whose boyfriend doesn’t satisfy her in bed. Who could resist listening? Everything is fine until the French girl in the green mini Cooper shows up, and Sam decides to go to work and not come home, throwing a wrench into Sam and Annie's happily ever after.

What a wild ride. Whenever I thought I had the plot figured out, the author threw a huge twist down. Loved how the author plays with point of view, so you’re constantly guessing who’s speaking. 5/5
Wow! What a masterful play on extectations and gender norms. Which is not normal for thrillers to focus on but because she played so masterfully on our expectations is made the twists that much better

This book surprised me a few times, leading to some necessary re-reading. I often wondered what would happen next. I thoroughly enjoyed a sense of anxiousness for the characters as the end drew near.

Just when I thought I had this book figured out another twist threw all my ideas out the window. This thriller turned out to be more complex than I expected. Characters that were carefully evolved th
Oh my God, this book is everything. I had to re-read a section because I wasn’t sure if I was going crazy or the character was… Then I gave this book to my mom who told me she did the same thing.
Read this book in two sittings. Could not put it down. The main characters, a newly married couple , are interesting and likable until everything starts going strangely after they move to a small town
Could not put this book down. Normally with thrillers you can predict when the plot twist is coming. This book will leave you feeling like you missed something major the way it just hits all at once.
What a great thriller! I wouldnt say so much thrill but alot of suspense for sure! A local therapist goes missing and the search is on. Trust me when I say you will NOT figure this one out beforehand!
A bit derivative, but most things are these days! The 1st few reveals blew my mind, but those helped me figure out the rest. A creepy, twisted fun, heart-pumping 4-star thriller to start my 2021 list!
This book threw me for a loop MULTIPLE times!! I was stunned how the author could write from a perspective you believed to be true because your mind chose to and not because it was necessarily true.

Wowee now THAT'S a novel! When that 1st twist hit, I thought I knew what the end would be, but NOPE! A couple more twists that had me reading til all hours of the early morning proved me wrong. LOVE!
This book had me second guessing everything I had read previous. Every part of the book had me stunned. I really liked every aspect of this book and it was a tremendously fast read. Highly recommend.

This was a great change to the thrillers I normally read. The twists are somewhat predictable towards the middle, but the ending was worth the read! Read in two days, a great weekend thriller escape.
I knew there was a twist going in, but WOW, what a twist! Goodnight Beautiful will make you question the assumptions you make when reading. Wonderfully done thriller with a satisfying, affecting end.
I don’t even have the words to describe how good this book was! I could not put it down and was shocked over and over again as I read. A must read for those who love a good psychological thriller!

What a page turner! Very well written and had me on the edge of my seat. Kept me guessing until the end - seriously once I thought I had it all figured out, a twist has me rethinking what I just read
I read a lot. So most books, while I love them, are very predictable. Not this book. It had a twist that had me going back and rereading parts to see how I missed it! I read it all in a single night!
There were so many twists and turns in this book, I sometimes I had to go back and re-read because I thought I'd missed something. And that's all I'm going to tell you about this book, you should go
